What happens when you take the core idea of a tower defense game and bring it to life with movement, chaos, and personality? That question is what sparked the creation of Summon Heroes, our newest game set in the evolving worlds of Summonia!
Currently in BETA, Summon Heroes already offers a deep and expanding experience:
- ✨ Summon over 40 unique heroes
- 🌎 Explore over 10 story-driven worlds
- ⚔️ Battle other players in PvP & Tournaments
- 🎪 Take on the Nightmare Circus & Dungeons for powerful rewards
- ⬆️ Progress all the way to max level 180 (our current max)
But the real story is how the game came to life, and how it became something even better than we originally imagined!
From Tower Defense to Total Chaos (In the Best Way)
The original vision for Summon Heroes was simple: create a more active version of tower defense. Instead of units that just stand still and attack, the goal was to make combat feel alive, something you could actually watch unfold with excitement.
Over time, that idea evolved far beyond its starting point.
One of the biggest turning points came with the introduction of projectiles and lasers. These systems added a whole new layer of dynamism, turning every battle into a fast-moving, visually chaotic experience where no two runs feel the same. Units don’t just attack, they interact with the world!

Happy Accidents That Changed Everything
Some of the best features in Summon Heroes came from unexpected moments during development.
For example, bosses weren’t always designed the way they are now. At one point, the team experimented with scaling up existing units into boss versions just as a quick prototype. What was meant to be a simple test ended up feeling so good that it became a core part of the game!
Another major addition came later: in-round dialogue. Originally, the game didn’t include it at all. But after revisiting the project, the team decided to try adding character dialogue during gameplay and it INSTANTLY elevated the experience! It brought personality, storytelling, and a sense of immersion that tied the entire world together.
Worlds That Feel Alive
Summon Heroes isn’t just about combat, it’s about exploring distinct, memorable environments!
One standout is Sakura Village, a Japan-inspired world where bamboo forests don’t just sit in the background, they react to the chaos of battle, flying apart as units clash. With its strong visual variety, hidden areas, and chests waiting to be discovered, each section feels unique, encouraging exploration alongside combat while making the environment itself part of the action!
The Hero That Defined the Game
Ask anyone on the team their favorite hero, and you’ll hear one name come up again and again: the Sniper!
She wasn’t just another unit, she helped define the direction of the entire game!
As the first laser-based hero, the Sniper introduced a new kind of attack style that pushed the game beyond traditional fantasy. Her design opened the door to sci-fi elements and inspired future ideas that go far beyond medieval themes.
In many ways, she represents what Summon Heroes is all about: breaking expectations and evolving into something bigger!
What We’re Most Proud Of
If there’s one thing that truly defines Summon Heroes, it’s how dynamic everything feels.
The combination of:
- Projectile-based combat
- Laser systems
- Environmental destruction
creates a gameplay loop where every match feels different. Maps don’t just look good, they react. Battles don’t just happen, they unfold in unpredictable ways!
It’s this constant motion and variation that turns Summon Heroes into more than just a strategy game, it becomes an experience you want to watch, experiment with, and master.
This Is Just the Beginning
Summon Heroes is still in BETA, and that means the journey is far from over. New heroes, features, and ideas are already on the horizon and player feedback is a huge part of shaping what comes next!
